Buderim Craft Cottage Visual Arts Workshops in July
Buderim Craft Cottage is hosting its 5th Winter School of Visual Arts from 1st to 9th July.
Applications from members of the public open 1st March. There are strict limits on workshop enrolments so that each participant gets lots of personal help. Applications are accepted on a “first come first in” basis.
The School is designed to provide a very intense and “hands-on” experience of a range of creative techniques. It is suitable for both experienced arts/craftspeople, and for those wishing to try out a creative technique.
The Cottage has engaged some of Queensland’s top artists and craftsmen to run the 12 workshops which make up the school’s 9-day programme.
Many of the Winter School tutors are multiple award winners, exhibit at major galleries, and teach at arts institutions throughout Queensland.
Workshops will teach and practise techniques as diverse as making artist journals, sculpting the human figure in clay, fabric dyeing, pen and wash techniques, creating complex designs on fabric, and several others. This year a Creative Writing workshop, “Life’s Little Stories”, will be added to the programme.
More information about the Winter School is available at www.buderimcraftcottage.com.au together with a downloadable application form. Application forms and flyers are also available at the Cottage, 5 Main Street Buderim 4556.
The Winter School runs every second year, and attracts about 200 applications. The Queensland Regional Arts Development Fund and Sunshine Coast Council are supporting the Cottage and its Winter School through grants.
