El Camino Flamenco

The rapid fire footwork of a dancer.  The intricate rhythm that drives them.  The strangely compelling voice of a singer.  A superb guitarist.  This is flamenco. 

In this production, El Camino Flamenco, Arte Flamenco Dance Group will take you on a journey which will explore the many powerful and unforgettable faces of Flamenco.  You will be experiencing flamenco at its best: a raw, uncompromising, wonderfully uplifting spectacle where artists reveal a piece of their soul in every stanza, connecting us emotionally with Gypsy origins.

A musical banquet, El Camino Flamenco, combines all the wonderful elements of Flamenco: dance, guitar, singing and explosive percussion: bringing you a feast for the senses.  Featuring acclaimed guitarists Andrew Veivers and Antonio Miguel, a guest appearance by ‘Flamarique Gitanos’ and the percussion virtuosity of world musician Jalberto Maldonado.

Bailaora Yioda Wilson comes from a strong background in flamenco, working as principal dancer in productions such as Carmen, Torrero and Bodas de Sangre.  Her recent engagements with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra have inspired a wonderful castanet piece that will be showcased in El Camino Flamenco.  Combine this with the brilliant students of Sunshine Coast based Arte Flamenco Dance School and guest appearances from Sydney based flamenco artists and this will surely be a night to remember.   A night in search of the true essence of “duende” (flamenco soul).

Running time is approximately 2.5 hours including interval.  There is no licensed bar for this event, though drinks and nibbles will be available for purchase.  There is no ATM inside the venue.
