Celebrate Seniors Week with Queensland Ballet
To celebrate Seniors Week, Queensland Ballet are presenting four exciting workshops at Lake Kawana Community Centre. These senior sessions are a great way to increase fitness, stamina and find a new ‘happy place’ with friends.
Program for Monday 15 August 2016 at Lake Kawana Community Centre:
10am – 11am Dance for Parkinson’s (20 places available)
Queensland Ballet is the first dance company in Australia to offer specialised classes for people affected by Parkinson’s Disease. This highly successful program helps participants re-connect with their power and grace in classes that focus on fitness, fun and creativity. All levels of mobility are welcomed, as are carers, partners and friends. Carers are free and do not require a ticket.
11.30am – 12.30pm Grandparent/Grandchild ballet story time (25 places available)
A fun time for grandparents and grandchildren to share in the delights of ballet
1pm – 2pm Ballet for Seniors (25 places available)
Feel better, think better, live better – with ballet. This gentle class is especially tailored for Seniors, with a focus on improving poise, core strength, memory and mobility.
2.15pm – 3.15pm Zumba Gold (25 places available)
Come ready to sweat and feel empowered with this modified version of the hugely popular Zumba. This class is a great cardio workout designed especially for seniors, one that will enhance flexibility, balance and conditioning.
Numbers are limited so be sure to book ahead of time to avoid disappointment.
Entry is $10 per participant, per workshop.
