The 8th annual King of the Mountain Poker Run, held on Sunday, July 7, is a 200km ride that takes in the best of the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Designed by local motorbike enthusiast Trevor Simpson, the route starts at Stan Topper Park in Pomona and meanders through towns such as Cooran, Imbil, Kenilworth, Mapleton, Montville, Maleny and Conondale with three stops at Imbil, Lake Baroon and Bellbird Creek Tea House, Kenilworth.

Each rider will receive a card at each of the stops with prizes (kindly donated by local businesses) and trophies awarded to the best, second and worst hands at the end of the ride at the Pomona Bowls Club.

The annual King of the Mountain Poker Run is a major fundraising event for the Pomona King of the Mountain Festival, which is run by the Cooroy Pomona Lions Club inc.

It cost $15 per poker hand, which includes morning tea and sausage sizzle at the end of the day.

The Poker Run is suitable for every motorbike and rider and Tyres for Bikes will be following the ride to provide roadside assistance.

Registration starts at 8am with the ride revving off at 9am.
