Talented local artists will be offering quality, affordable artworks for sale at the Passion for Pastels Art Exhibition from Friday 15 August to Sunday 17 August.

To be held at the Palmwoods Girl Guides Hall in Lingara Avenue, Palmwoods, the exhibition will display a diverse range of pastel paintings with subject matter ranging from landscapes to portraits, animals and still life.

The exhibiting artists are all students of professional artist and tutor Carolyn Sheather, who has been teaching drawing and pastels in Palmwoods and Noosa for the past five years. Although most of her classes are local she is travelling to Italy in September to tutor two art tours, then on to France to fulfil some commissions in Paris and Provence.

“I’m in the privileged position of nurturing and watching the development of this talented group of students and I am delighted to invite the wider community to see our work,” Carolyn said.

One of Carolyn’s former students, Rayma Eveson, was the Artist in Focus at this year’s Immanuel Arts Festival and has gone on to forge a successful art career with exhibitions locally and in Melbourne.

On sale at the Passion for Pastels Art Exhibition will be framed and ready-to-hang pieces, as well as smaller gift lines including handmade cards with original artwork. With Christmas only a few months away, this is a good opportunity to buy a “one off” gift or invest in something special for the home.

The official opening is at 6pm on Friday 15 August and all are welcome to attend, enjoy the art and the wine and finger food. The exhibition runs from 10am Friday through till 4pm on Sunday and will include an Information Station, with live demonstrations and educational sessions about painting with pastels and pastel classes.
