The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is among the nation's most significant regional art prizes. It is presented by the Sunshine Coast Council.

Now in its ninth year, the Sunshine Coast Art Prize attracts the best contemporary and emerging artists Australia has to offer. The winner of the two-dimensional (2D) category receives $15,000 and the winning work is added into Sunshine Coast Art Collection. The winning artist also receives a two week residency at The Old Dairy at Arley Farm, Maleny.

A non-acquisitive Highly Commended prize of $2,500 will also be announced at the official Sunshine Coast Art Prize exhibition launch. The Highly Commended prize for 2014 is presented by the Proost-De Deyne family.

A non-acquisitive People’s Choice prize of $2,500 will be announced at the Auction. It is awarded to the artist receiving the most votes from visitors to the exhibition. The People's Choice Award for 2014 is presented by the Friends of Caloundra Regional Gallery Inc.

The Sunshine Coast Art Prize is open to any Australian resident working in Australia with any two dimensional medium.

Forty finalists will be chosen from the entries submitted to the pre-selection panel.

All finalists will be exhibited at the Caloundra Regional Gallery between 27 August and 26 October 2014.

All of the finalists’ entries will be available for purchase during the program and a selection will be available for purchase through the Sunshine Coast Art Prize Auction. This auction is in its second year, following the successful inaugural auction in 2013.

Exhibition dates: Wednesday 27 August – Sunday 26 October

Auction: Sunday 26 October
