The third annual Caloundra Fringe Festival is fast approaching. Last year’s 11 day festival saw the debut of an exciting new interactive live arts celebration, The Avant-gardeN Party. This year, we are excited to bring back the “heART” as a new Sunshine Coast tradition.

Deeply inspiring, thought provoking, locally created, colourful community fun are just a few things that come to mind when I hear the words Avant-gardeN Party. This event has grown into something so spectacular that it just wouldn’t be right to keep it to ourselves!

This unique FREE ENTRY event is set to take place at Lions Park, Kings Beach Caloundra on September 28, kicking off at 11am to 5pm.

After the success of last year’s event, community have been quick to jump on board to support. Sustainable Partnerships Australia will be bringing some cool and eclectic local performers to the stage this year… because every Sunday arvo needs a little live music.

And did someone say wearable art?! We’re bringing the quirky catwalk to you with the help of some of our friends…

From 12 noon you'll meet Yasmin Bridges from Awkward Chat, artist Karen Benjamin, Julie Johnson from Julzee Func Art, Amy Richardson from Amatus, and Sara Thompson from Sarevah: local wearable artists and designers who will be roaming the event in their handcrafted, colourful creations. Tyres, plastic bags, banners, cutlery, chains, rope, rocks… all of these objects are fair game in creating art that walks. The more unusual, the better!

Then from 12:45pm join the designers for a communal creative conversation over a spot of tea in the High Chai Tea Tent, proudly sponsored by Mooloolaba’s Cargo Shack.

The fun doesn’t stop there… as the day goes on, The Avant-gardeN Party offers the opportunity for community to explore, engage and express through a vast range of installations, inspiration stations and workshops. Showcasing local talent at its very best!

Presented and organised by Sunshine Coast’s creative collective ARTsomble, including the very talented local artist Krystle Sturgess, with the help of equally talented contributors, Gavin O’Keefe, Emily Heidke, Anna Hoffman among others, who are passionate about growing Sunshine Coast arts to its full potential.

Truly something for the whole family, it’s the perfect way to spend a Sunday by the beach this September School Holidays. To find out more, visit the Caloundra Fringe Festival website and don’t forget to like The Avant-gardeN Party on Facebook:
