CELEBRATING TWIN GIRLS & TWIN CITIZENSHIPS FOR IWD
French crepe maker Cecile Ernanves comes across quite a few double-yolks among the 15 dozen eggs she cracks open each week at the Big Pineapple Markets!
This Saturday, Cecile will rejoice in her recent twin citizenship (of Australia and France) and becoming the Mum of twin baby girls, when she celebrates International Women’s Day at the markets. She is inviting women of the Sunshine Coast to join her on IWD to enjoy a Creole Crepe and an uplifting coffee.
It is the 40th anniversary of International Women’s Day this weekend, when most women wear purple ribbons to acknowledge women’s rights. The United Nations Theme for IWD in 2015 is: “Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!”
Originally from Paris, the City of Love and Crepes, Cecile now a resident of Verrierdale, near Noosa, came to Australia on holidays about nine years ago.
After an emotional citizenship ceremony at Caloundra Events Centre on Australia Day, she now calls Australia home.
On International Women's Day, visitors to The Big Pineapple Markets will also appreciate the jumping castles, face painting, pineapple parfait, fresh fruit juices and farmers’ produce, as well as enjoying cool breezes on the large, pram-friendly deck, overlooking the pineapple plantation.
The heritage-listed Big Pineapple nestling on 165 hectares, at 76 Nambour Connection Rd, Woombye, which officially opened in mid-August in 1971, has been providing healthy family and tourist entertainment for more than four decades.
The Saturday markets are held from 6.30am to 1pm during the summer months and from 6.30am to 2pm in the cooler months of the year.
