THE KNOCK ON THE DOOR
An award winning play by Bruce Olive

As a contribution to the ANZAC Centenary celebrations, Buderim Lions Club, together with volunteers from Buderim Amateur Theatre Society (BATS) are staging “The Knock On The Door”.

Set in 1915 parents Gladys and Harold wait for news of their eighteen year old son, who is fighting at Gallipoli.

Nearly one hundred years later, Cate waits patiently in the same suburban house for the return of her husband fighting in Afghanistan.

Through these parallel lives, this play explores how Australians, particularly women, have attempted to cope with the anxiety of loved ones fighting overseas.

There will be 2 performances at the BWMCA Hall on the 18th of April. On Saturday 18th there will be a Matinee with afternoon tea starting at 1.30pm plus an Evening Show with nibbles provided, starting a 7.00pm.

All proceeds from these will be donated to Fusion Sunshine Coast who are doing exemplary work with disengaged, and at-risk young people.

Buderim Lions has also recently established a Leo (Young Lions) Club at Chancellor State College and the enthusiasm and commitment of these students to help their community will be on display.

The Leo’s are voluntarily helping set up tables and providing the Dinner service on the Friday night. Buderim Lions are heavily involved in what is a big effort and will also be operating a Bar for the Friday and Saturday evening performances.

Tickets are available from the Buderim Community Information Centre (Old Post Office) and the Buderim Pharmacy. Tickets can also be purchased online atwww.buderim.com/theknock.

Ticket prices are: Saturday 18th April Matinee & Evening Shows.
Single $40 *** Double $70.

These will be three first class performances commemorating sacrifice and Buderim Lions and BATS are looking for strong community support.
