In this course, we investigate the role of the teacher on the spiritual path. We will also look at the qualities of a teacher and of a student, how to avoid common mistakes and how to cultivate a proper teacher-student relationship for the greatest benefit in our spiritual practice. Although it is part of the Discovering Buddhism programme, anyone is welcome to attend - you do not have to have attended previous modules.

Although true spiritual experience comes through our own hard work and development, a good teacher is essential. We rely on a qualified teacher to show us the way to understanding, in the same way that we rely on an experienced guide to get us through unfamiliar territory.

Ven. Pema was ordained by our precious spiritual director Lama Zopa Rinpoche in 2010 and has been living and studying at Chenrezig Institute ever since. She obtained her DB certification in 2005, and has successfully completed all Basic and Master Programme subjects taught at CI in the last 5 years. Previous to her ordination, Pema has gained invaluable teaching experience as a school teacher by profession for 20 years. She is now combining her teaching skills and her profound Dharma knowledge with enthusiasm and passion.
