The many demands of modern working life make it hard to stay focused. It is too easy to become distracted, overwhelmed and burnt out.

Managing our emotional state is key to maintaining calm amidst the storm and can positively increase our mental and physical well being.

By cultivating the ability to respond rather than react we can also foster better relationships and be more productive by focusing on our priorities.

In this first of three workshops, you will learn mindfulness techniques and mental strategies to help develop a more balanced mind and better cope with work's many pressures.

We’ll be discussing how to cultivate mental strategies such as patience, presence, kindness and acceptance and we'll look at how a beginner’s mind is beneficial. These tools can change the way you work and live each day. You will also learn some valuable tips for developing acceptance and stopping the struggle against the things you cannot change at work and at home.

The workshop will involve discussion and reflection as well as time to learn and practice a secular mindfulness technique for developing focus, relaxation and clarity.

Key takeaways from the workshop are:

An easy to learn daily mindfulness technique

Tips for practicing mindfulness throughout your working day

Mental strategies to help you reduce stress and be more effective

Mindfulness techniques for managing difficult emotions

This workshop is part one of a three-part Mindfulness at Work program. Each session is available individually. However, for maximum benefit, it is recommended that all three sessions are attended. Those who attend all three sessions will receive a free mindfulness CD.

Saturday 12 March 9.00 am - 4.30 pm, held in the Tara Room underneath the Gompa and opposite the library.

Facility Fee $149. 10% discount for members and concession card holders. Maximum of 20 spaces available.
