Shuvani Festivale Historique

Soul Dance presents the Shuvani Festivalé Histórique a Medieval Re-Enactment featuring the lives of the ancient nomads of the Spice Trail. Come along and watch history unfold in a colourful pageant of dance, music, arts and crafts.

Wander around a medieval nomadic encampment and be entertained by dancers and artisans displaying the skills of the 14th century in an educational and fun filled day for the whole family. Take part in workshops including peg doll making for the kids, dance and drumming for all ages. Watch our blacksmith at work and chat to our re-enactors about their chosen roles while the kids interact with the animals. Have your fortune told in the wagon under the 350 year old fig trees or get a Henna Art Tattoo while the musicians play for your enjoyment.Strike a bargain us you pick up some trinkets from our many traders selling various wares and jewelry of the era.

On Saturday night we will be open until late so stay a while and join us under the stars and a thousand candles as we gather around the campfire to celebrate everything the eventide has to offer with song, dance and stories of old (note: Sunday close is 4pm).

As well as being enchanted by our encampment you can also enjoy the many other attractions that Old Petrie Town has to offer including the markets, many historic buildings, the fire museum (Sun 8 to 12) and the live steam and vintage machinery display (9 to 1 both days). Plenty of food venues are available including the Old Petrie Hotel (licensed) to ensure you have the fuel for a full day of fun at family prices.
